In a large mixing bowl, whisk together the flour, instant yeast, sugar, and salt until well combined.
In a separate bowl, mix the warm milk, melted butter, and egg until combined.
Pour the wet ingredients into the dry ingredients. Using a wooden spoon or spatula, mix until the dough comes together.
Turn the dough onto a lightly floured surface. Knead the dough for about 5 minutes until it is smooth and elastic.
Form the dough into a ball and place it in a lightly greased mixing bowl. Cover it with a kitchen towel and let it rise in a warm place for 10 minutes.
After the dough has risen, punch it down gently and split it into 12 equal portions. Shape each portion into a small ball.
Place the dough balls on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper, spacing them apart. Cover with a kitchen towel and let them rise for an additional 10 minutes.
Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C).
Once the rolls have risen, bake them in the preheated oven for 15 minutes, or until they are golden brown on top.
Remove from the oven and brush the tops with additional melted butter if desired. Serve warm.
