In a mixing bowl, combine the honey, soy sauce, minced garlic, olive oil, black pepper, salt, and lemon juice (if using). Mix well to create a marinade.
Place the salmon fillets in a shallow dish or a resealable plastic bag and pour the honey garlic marinade over them. Make sure the fillets are well-coated. Allow them to marinate for at least 10 minutes (or up to 30 minutes for more flavor).
Preheat your air fryer to 400°F (200°C) for about 5 minutes.
Remove the salmon from the marinade, reserving the marinade for basting later.
Place the salmon fillets in the air fryer basket, skin side down if the skin is on. Ensure they are not overcrowded.
Cook the salmon in the air fryer for 8-10 minutes. A thicker fillet may require additional cooking time. Check for doneness—salmon should easily flake with a fork and have an internal temperature of 145°F (63°C).
During the last 2 minutes of cooking, baste the salmon with the reserved marinade to enhance the flavor.
Carefully remove the salmon from the air fryer using tongs or a spatula. Let it rest for a few minutes before serving.
Garnish with chopped green onions or sesame seeds, if desired.
