  • 1 whisk
  • 1 measuring cups and spoons
  • 1 spatula
  • 1 9x9 inch baking pan
  • 1 parchment paper optional
  • 1 oven

Ingredients

  • 1 cup mashed ripe bananas About 2 medium bananas.
  • ½ cup unsalted butter Melted.
  • ¾ cup brown sugar
  • ¼ cup granulated sugar
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract

  • cup unsweetened cocoa powder
  • ½ teaspoon baking soda
  • ¼ teaspoon salt
  • ½ cup chocolate chips Optional.

Instructions

  • Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease the 9x9 inch baking pan or line it with parchment paper for easy removal.
  • In a mixing bowl, combine the melted butter and sugars (both brown and granulated) and whisk until smooth.
  • Add the mashed bananas and vanilla extract, stirring until well combined.
  • Beat in the eggs one at a time, ensuring each egg is well incorporated before adding the next.
  • In a separate bowl, whisk together the flour, cocoa powder, baking soda, and salt.
  • Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet mixture, folding gently until fully combined. Be careful not to overmix.
  • If desired, fold in the chocolate chips.
  • Pour the batter into the prepared baking pan, smoothing it evenly with a spatula.
  • Bake in the preheated oven for 25 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted in the center comes out with a few moist crumbs.
  • Allow to cool in the pan for about 10 minutes before removing and transferring to a wire rack to cool completely. Cut into squares and serve.

Notes

The ripeness of the bananas is key to achieving the best flavor; use bananas that are heavily speckled for maximum sweetness.
You can enhance the flavor by adding nuts or swapping out chocolate chips for white chocolate or peanut butter chips.
Store leftovers in an airtight container at room temperature for up to 3 days or in the refrigerator for up to a week.
