  • ½ teaspoon Baking soda
  • ¼ teaspoon Salt
  • 1 teaspoon Ground cinnamon
  • ½ teaspoon Ground cloves
  • ½ cup Unsalted butter softened
  • ½ cup Granulated sugar
  • ½ cup Brown sugar
  • 1 Large egg
  • 2 tablespoons Fresh orange juice for dough
  • 1 tablespoon Orange zest
  • 1 teaspoon Vanilla extract
  • 1 cup Powdered sugar for glaze
  • 2 tablespoons Orange juice for glaze

  • Preheat oven to 350°F and line baking sheet with parchment paper.
  • Whisk together flour, baking soda, salt, cinnamon, and cloves in a bowl.
  • Cream butter with granulated and brown sugar until fluffy in a large bowl.
  • Beat in egg, orange juice, orange zest, and vanilla extract until smooth.
  • Mix dry ingredients into wet until a dough forms. Don’t overmix.
  • Scoop tablespoon-sized dough, space 2 inches apart on baking sheet.
  • Bake 10–12 minutes until golden at edges. Cool 5 mins, then transfer to rack.
  • Whisk glaze ingredients until smooth. Drizzle or dip cookies once cooled.
  • Let glaze set at room temp before serving.

Notes

To intensify orange flavor, add a few drops of orange extract to the glaze. Let glaze set overnight for best results.
