  • 1 measuring cups and spoons
  • 1 knife and cutting board
  • 4 hamburger buns
  • 4 serving plates

Ingredients

  • 1 lb ground beef
  • 1 small onion, diced
  • ¼ cup dill pickle relish
  • ¼ cup ketchup
  • 2 tablespoon yellow mustard
  • 1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1 teaspoon onion powder

  • 1 cup shredded lettuce
  • ½ cup shredded cheddar cheese
  • ½ cup Thousand Island dressing
  • 4 pieces hamburger buns

  • In a large skillet over medium heat, add the ground beef and diced onion. Cook, breaking up the meat with a wooden spoon, until the beef is browned and the onion is tender, about 5-7 minutes. Drain off excess grease.
  • Stir in the dill pickle relish, ketchup, yellow mustard, Worcestershire sauce, garlic powder, onion powder, and salt and pepper. Mix well and cook for another 5-7 minutes until heated through and flavors meld together.
  • While the mixture is simmering, toast the hamburger buns lightly on a separate skillet or under a broiler if desired.
  • To assemble the Sloppy Joes, place a generous scoop of the beef mixture onto the bottom half of each bun.
  • Top each sandwich with shredded lettuce, a sprinkle of cheddar cheese, and a drizzle of Thousand Island dressing. Cover with the top half of the bun.
  • Serve immediately while hot and enjoy!

Notes

Feel free to customize the toppings according to your taste. You can add sliced tomatoes or additional pickles if you prefer.
If you're looking for a lower-calorie option, consider using lean ground turkey or chicken instead of beef.
For a vegetarian version, substitute ground beef with lentils or a meat alternative.
