Equipment

  • 1 baking sheet
  • 1 parchment paper
  • 2 mixing bowls
  • 1 hand mixer or whisk
  • 1 rubber spatula
  • 1 measuring cups and spoons

Ingredients

  • 1 cup granulated sugar
  • ½ cup brown sugar packed
  • ½ cup unsalted butter melted
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • cup unsweetened cocoa powder
  • ½ teaspoon baking powder
  • ¼ teaspoon salt
  • 1 cup chocolate chips

Instructions

  • Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
  • In a mixing bowl, combine the granulated sugar, brown sugar, and melted butter. Mix well until the sugars are fully incorporated.
  • Add the eggs, one at a time, mixing after each addition, followed by the vanilla extract.
  • In another bowl, sift together the flour, cocoa powder, baking powder, and salt.
  • Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet mixture, stirring until just combined. Be careful not to overmix.
  • Fold in the chocolate chips, ensuring they are evenly distributed throughout the dough.
  • Use a spoon or cookie scoop to drop rounded tablespoons of dough onto the prepared baking sheet, leaving some space between each cookie.
  • Bake in the preheated oven for 10-12 minutes, or until the edges are set but the centers are slightly soft.
  • Remove from the oven and let the cookies cool on the baking sheet for 5 minutes before transferring them to a wire rack to cool completely.

Notes

Store the cookies in an airtight container at room temperature for up to a week.
For a twist, consider adding chopped nuts or a sprinkle of sea salt on top before baking.
