Equipment

Ingredients
  

  • ½ cup soy sauce
  • ¼ cup brown sugar Adjust sweetness as needed.
  • 2 tablespoons sesame oil
  • 1 tablespoon rice vinegar
  • 3 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 inch piece ginger, grated
  • 2 tablespoons green onions, finely chopped
  • 1 tablespoon sesame seeds
  • ¼ teaspoon black pepper

Instructions
 

  • In a mixing bowl, combine the soy sauce and brown sugar. Whisk together until the sugar is fully dissolved.
  • Add the sesame oil and rice vinegar to the mixture and stir until well combined.
  • Incorporate the minced garlic, grated ginger, chopped green onions, sesame seeds, and black pepper into the bowl. Mix thoroughly.
  • Taste the sauce and adjust the sweetness or saltiness by adding more brown sugar or soy sauce as needed.
  • Transfer the sauce into a jar or airtight container for immediate use, or store it in the refrigerator for up to a week.

Notes

This sauce can be used to marinate 1 to 1.5 pounds of beef, which should be sliced thin for the best results.
For a spicy kick, consider adding a teaspoon of gochugaru (Korean red pepper flakes) or a dash of hot sauce.
Besides beef, this sauce can also be used with pork, chicken, or grilled vegetables for a flavorful twist.
