Equipment

  • 1 mixing bowl
  • 1 whisk
  • 1 rolling pin
  • 1 baking sheet
  • 1 parchment paper
  • 1 kitchen towel
  • 1 oven
  • 1 cooling rack

Ingredients

  • 4 cups all-purpose flour
  • ½ cup granulated sugar
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1 packet (2 ¼ teaspoons) instant yeast
  • 1 cup warm milk (approximately 110°F or 45°C)
  • ¼ cup unsalted butter, melted
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • cup raisins or chocolate chips for eyes
  • 1 egg for egg wash

Instructions

  • In a large mixing bowl, combine the flour, sugar, salt, and instant yeast. Whisk them together until well blended.
  • In a separate bowl, heat the milk until warm (approximately 110°F or 45°C). Add the melted butter, eggs, and vanilla extract to the warm milk; whisk until fully combined.
  • Pour the wet ingredients into the dry ingredients. Mix until a dough starts to form.
  • Knead the dough on a floured surface for about 5-7 minutes until it becomes smooth and elastic.
  • Place the dough in a lightly greased bowl, cover it with a kitchen towel, and let it rise in a warm place for about 1 hour or until doubled in size.
  • Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C). Line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
  • Once the dough has risen, punch it down and divide it into 12 equal pieces. Shape each piece into a round ball.
  • For the bunny shape, take one ball and form a smaller piece for the head and two smaller pieces for the ears. Attach the ears to the round body and the head on top.
  • Place the shaped buns on the prepared baking sheet, ensuring they are spaced apart. Press raisins or chocolate chips into the dough for the eyes.
  • Beat the additional egg and brush it over the buns for a shiny finish.
  • Bake in the preheated oven for about 20 minutes or until golden brown.
  • Remove from the oven and let them cool on a cooling rack before serving.
