Ingredients
  

  • 1 cup unsalted butter, softened
  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • ½ cup granulated sugar
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • ¼ teaspoon salt
  • 8 oz cream cheese, softened
  • 1 cup powdered sugar
  • 1 cup dried figs, chopped Can substitute with dried apricots, dates, or other dried fruit.
  • 1 tablespoon lemon juice
  • 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon

Instructions
 

  • Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease the 9x9-inch baking pan or line it with parchment paper for easy removal.
  • In a mixing bowl, beat the softened butter, granulated sugar, and vanilla extract until creamy.
  • Gradually add in the flour and salt, mixing until a smooth dough forms.
  • Press two-thirds of the dough evenly into the bottom of the prepared baking pan to form a crust. Set aside the remaining dough for the topping.
  • In another bowl, beat the cream cheese until smooth. Gradually mix in the powdered sugar, lemon juice, and cinnamon until well combined.
  • Spread the cream cheese mixture evenly over the crust in the baking pan.
  • Sprinkle the chopped figs over the cream cheese layer.
  • Crumble the reserved dough over the figs to create a topping layer.
  • Bake in the preheated oven for 25–30 minutes or until the top is golden brown.
  • Remove from the oven and allow to cool completely in the pan before cutting into bars.
  • For best results, let the bars chill in the refrigerator for a couple of hours before slicing. This will help them hold their shape better.
