Equipment

  • 1 baking sheet
  • 1 parchment paper
  • 1 rolling pin
  • 1 mixing bowl
  • 1 brush for egg wash optional
  • 1 measuring cups and spoons

Ingredients

  • 1 package refrigerated crescent roll dough 8 oz package.
  • 1 lb ground beef
  • 1 packet taco seasoning 1 oz packet.
  • 1 cup shredded cheddar cheese
  • ½ cup diced tomatoes
  • ¼ cup sliced black olives Optional.
  • ¼ cup sour cream For serving.
  • to taste none fresh cilantro leaves For garnishing, optional.

Instructions

  • Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C). Prepare a baking sheet by lining it with parchment paper.
  • In a mixing bowl, combine the ground beef and taco seasoning. Cook the seasoned beef in a skillet over medium heat, breaking it up with a spoon until it is fully browned and cooked through, about 5-7 minutes. Drain any excess fat.
  • Unroll the crescent roll dough and separate the triangles along the perforations.
  • Place a spoonful of the cooked beef mixture at the wide end of each triangle. Add a sprinkle of shredded cheddar cheese and a few diced tomatoes on top, and if using, add some sliced black olives.
  • Starting from the wide end, roll up the triangles tightly to form sticks. Place them seam side down on the prepared baking sheet.
  • If desired, brush the tops of the sticks with a little bit of beaten egg for a golden finish.
  • Bake in the preheated oven for 12-15 minutes, or until the sticks are golden and puffed.
  • Remove from the oven and allow to cool slightly. Serve warm with sour cream and garnish with fresh cilantro if desired.

Notes

You can substitute the ground beef with ground turkey or chicken for a lighter option.
Feel free to add other taco toppings like jalapeños or corn to customize to your preference.
These cheesy taco sticks can be made ahead of time and stored in the refrigerator, then reheated in the oven before serving.
