  • 1 Glass for serving

Ingredients

Main ingredients

  • ½ cup pitted cherries fresh or frozen
  • 1 tablespoon sugar or your preferred sweetener
  • ¼ teaspoon vanilla extract
  • ¼ cup water
  • 1 cup milk any kind you like
  • 1 shot espresso or ¼ cup strong brewed coffee
  • ice cubes to fill the glass

Instructions

Instructions

  • In a small saucepan, mix your half cup pitted cherries with sugar, vanilla extract, and water. This is where flavor starts to blossom.
  • Simmer this mixture on medium heat for about 10 to 15 minutes. You’ll notice the cherries breaking down and the liquid thickening up. Stir occasionally so it don’t stick.
  • After the syrup thickens, strain it through a fine mesh strainer into a container. Let that cool at room temp.
  • Fill your serving glass with ice cubes.
  • Pour the cooled cherry syrup in first, then add the milk. Pour in the espresso or coffee last.
  • Give everything a good stir and you’re ready to serve.

Notes

You can make the syrup ahead and store it in the fridge for up to a week.
