- 4 pieces boneless, skinless chicken breasts About 1.5 pounds total.
- ¼ cup olive oil
- ¼ cup fresh lemon juice About 2 lemons.
- 3 cloves garlic, minced
- 2 tablespoons honey Adjust sweetness to taste.
- 1 teaspoon dried oregano
- 1 teaspoon salt
- ½ teaspoon black pepper
- ½ teaspoon red pepper flakes Optional.
In a medium bowl, combine the olive oil, lemon juice, minced garlic, honey, oregano, salt, black pepper, and red pepper flakes (if using). Whisk together until well blended.
Place the chicken breasts in a large resealable plastic bag or a shallow dish. Pour the marinade over the chicken, making sure each piece is well coated.
Seal the bag or cover the dish and refrigerate for at least 30 minutes, preferably 1-4 hours for best flavor.
Preheat the grill or grilling pan over medium-high heat.
Remove the chicken from the marinade and discard the remaining marinade.
Grill the chicken breasts for about 6-7 minutes on each side, or until they reach an internal temperature of 165°F (75°C).
Once cooked, remove the chicken from the grill and let it rest for 5 minutes before slicing or serving.
You can adjust the sweetness by adding more or less honey according to your taste.
For added flavor, consider marinating overnight.
This marinade also works well for other proteins like shrimp or pork.
