  • 1 cup water 240ml
  • 6 tablespoon unsalted butter 85g
  • 1 tablespoon granulated sugar 13g
  • ½ teaspoon salt
  • 1 cup all-purpose flour 120g
  • 3 large eggs
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • Vegetable oil for frying
  • ¾ cup sugar
  • 2 teaspoon cinnamon
  • cup chocolate chips
  • cup heavy cream

  • Bring water, butter, sugar, and salt to a rolling boil in a saucepan. Remove from heat.
  • Stir in all the flour immediately until the dough forms and pulls away from the sides.
  • Let dough cool 5 minutes, then beat in eggs one at a time. Stir in vanilla extract until glossy.
  • Transfer dough into a piping bag with a large star tip.
  • Heat vegetable oil in a deep pot to 375°F (190°C).
  • Pipe 4–6 inch strips into hot oil, cutting with scissors as needed.
  • Fry 2–3 minutes per side until golden brown. Remove and drain on paper towels.
  • Immediately roll churros in prepared cinnamon sugar mixture.
  • Heat chocolate chips and cream in a bowl over simmering water until smooth. Stir in cinnamon.
  • Serve churros hot with chocolate sauce for dipping.

Notes

Use a candy thermometer for frying! Watch closely, drain on paper towels, and roll churros in cinnamon sugar while hot for best results.
