Equipment

  • 1 rolling pin
  • 1 mixing bowl
  • 1 shallow dish
  • 1 skillet or griddle
  • 1 spatula

Ingredients

  • 8 slices bread White or whole wheat.
  • ½ cup granulated sugar
  • 2 teaspoons ground cinnamon
  • 2 large eggs
  • ½ cup milk
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • ¼ cup butter For cooking.
  • optional cream cheese or icing For drizzling.

Instructions

  • Flatten each slice of bread with a rolling pin to make them easier to roll up.
  • In a shallow dish, mix together the granulated sugar and ground cinnamon. Set aside.
  • Spread each slice of bread with a thin layer of your favorite spread and roll them tightly.
  • In a mixing bowl, whisk together the eggs, milk, and vanilla extract until well combined.
  • Preheat a skillet or griddle over medium heat and melt 1 tablespoon of butter.
  • Dip each rolled bread in the egg mixture, ensuring they are well-coated, then roll them in the cinnamon-sugar mixture.
  • Place the roll-ups seam side down in the skillet and cook for about 2-3 minutes on each side or until golden brown.
  • Remove from the skillet and place on a paper towel-lined plate to absorb any excess butter. Repeat the process with the remaining rolls.
  • Serve warm, drizzled with cream cheese icing or syrup if desired.

Notes

Feel free to add fillings such as Nutella or fruit preserves before rolling for an extra twist.
For a healthier version, use whole-grain bread and reduce the amount of sugar.
Try sprinkling chopped nuts or raisins into the cinnamon-sugar mixture for added texture. Enjoy!
