Main Ingredients

  • 12 Mozzarella cheese sticks frozen
  • 12 slices Bacon
  • 1 cup All-purpose flour
  • 2 Eggs large, mixed with 1 tablespoon milk
  • 1 cup Seasoned bread crumbs combined with ½ teaspoon garlic powder and ½ teaspoon paprika
  • Vegetable oil for frying
  • Toothpicks to hold bacon in place
  • Tray for chilling poppers before frying

Cooking Instructions

  • Freeze mozzarella sticks for about 30 minutes until firm.
  • Wrap each cheese stick with a slice of bacon and secure with a toothpick.
  • Prepare three bowls: flour, eggs and milk mix, and seasoned crumbs.
  • Dredge each bacon-wrapped stick through flour, egg mix, and crumb mixture.
  • Place coated poppers on tray and freeze again for 15 minutes.
  • Heat oil to 350°F (175°C) in a fryer or deep pan.
  • Fry poppers in small batches for 2–3 minutes until golden and crispy.
  • Optional: Use quick release on pressure cooker if crisping in cooker.

Notes

Cool poppers completely before storing. To reheat, use oven instead of microwave to maintain crispiness. Freeze extras individually before storing together.
