  • 1 9x13 inch baking dish
  • 1 mixing bowl
  • 1 whisk
  • 1 measuring cups and spoons
  • 1 spoon or spatula

Ingredients

  • 1 box chocolate cake mix 15.25 oz
  • 1 box instant chocolate pudding mix 3.9 oz
  • 4 large eggs
  • 1 cup milk
  • ½ cup vegetable oil
  • 1 cup semi-sweet chocolate chips
  • 1 cup boiling water

Instructions

  • Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease the 9x13 inch baking dish with non-stick spray or butter.

  • Carefully pour the boiling water over the entire mixture. Do not mix; this is essential to create the gooey layer.
  • Bake in the preheated oven for 45 minutes or until the edges are set, and a toothpick inserted in the center comes out slightly moist but not wet.
  • Allow the cake to cool for about 10 minutes before serving. Optionally, dust with powdered sugar for extra sweetness.
