Equipment

  • 1 oven
  • 1 9x9-inch baking pan
  • 1 mixing bowl
  • 1 whisk
  • 1 rubber spatula
  • 1 set measuring cups and spoons
  • 1 parchment paper (optional)
  • 1 cooling rack

Ingredients

  • 1 cup granulated sugar
  • ½ cup brown sugar
  • ½ cup unsalted butter melted
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • cup unsweetened cocoa powder
  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • ¼ teaspoon salt
  • ¼ teaspoon baking powder
  • 1 cup chocolate chips
  • ½ cup colorful Easter-themed candies such as M&M's or chocolate eggs for topping

Instructions

  • Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Line a 9x9-inch baking pan with parchment paper or grease it lightly for easy removal.
  • In a mixing bowl, combine the granulated sugar, brown sugar, and melted butter. Mix until well combined.
  • Add the eggs one at a time, stirring well after each addition. Then mix in the vanilla extract.
  • In a separate bowl, whisk together the cocoa powder, all-purpose flour, salt, and baking powder.
  • Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet mixture, stirring until just combined. Do not overmix; it’s okay if there are a few lumps.
  • Fold in the chocolate chips gently.
  • Pour the brownie batter into the prepared baking pan, spreading it evenly. Sprinkle the colorful Easter candies on top of the batter.
  • Bake in the preheated oven for 25 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out with a few moist crumbs.
  • Remove the brownies from the oven and allow them to cool in the pan for about 10 minutes before transferring them to a cooling rack to cool completely.
  • Once fully cooled, cut the brownies into squares and serve.

Notes

For a richer brownie, you can substitute half of the chocolate chips with nuts or dried fruits that complement the Easter theme.
