- 9 cups Rice Chex cereal
- 1 cup semi-sweet chocolate chips
- ½ cup creamy peanut butter
- ¼ cup unsalted butter
- 2 cups powdered sugar
- 1 cup pastel M&M's Or any colorful Easter candy.
- ½ teaspoon vanilla extract
- 1 pinch salt
Begin by lining a baking sheet with parchment paper to cool the Puppy Chow later.
In a microwave-safe bowl, combine the chocolate chips, peanut butter, and butter. Microwave in 30-second intervals, stirring in between, until the mixture is smooth and melted (typically 1-2 minutes).
Stir in the vanilla extract and a pinch of salt until well combined.
In a large mixing bowl, add the Rice Chex cereal. Pour the melted chocolate mixture over the cereal and gently fold with a spatula until all the cereal is evenly coated.
Transfer the coated cereal into a large Ziplock bag (or a bowl). Add the powdered sugar and close the bag. Shake well until the cereal is thoroughly coated with powdered sugar.
Spread the Puppy Chow mixture onto the prepared baking sheet in an even layer and allow to cool for 10 minutes.
Once cooled, add in the pastel M&M's, tossing gently to combine.
Store the Easter Puppy Chow in an airtight container or serve immediately.
Feel free to substitute the candies based on your preference or dietary restrictions.
For a fun twist, add sprinkles or mini marshmallows as toppings.
Puppy Chow can last for up to a week if stored properly in an airtight container.
