Equipment

  • 1 baking sheet
  • 1 parchment paper or non-stick spray
  • 1 large mixing bowl
  • 1 plastic wrap
  • 1 oven mitts
  • 1 pastry brush

Ingredients

  • 12 pieces frozen Rhodes dinner rolls
  • ¼ cup unsalted butter melted
  • ¼ cup granulated sugar
  • ½ teaspoon salt
  • 3 tablespoons milk
  • 1 tablespoon active dry yeast optional, for added rise
  • 1 piece egg for egg wash, optional

Instructions

  • Place the frozen Rhodes dinner rolls on a lightly greased baking sheet lined with parchment paper, leaving enough space between each roll for rising.
  • Cover the rolls with plastic wrap and let them thaw and rise in a warm place for about 4 hours, or until they have doubled in size.
  • About 30 minutes before baking, preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
  • In a small bowl, mix together the melted butter, granulated sugar, salt, and milk. If desired, add the active dry yeast to help the rolls rise.
  • Once the rolls have risen, brush the melted butter mixture generously over the top of each roll.
  • For a golden and shiny finish, whisk an egg and brush it lightly over the rolls if desired.
  • Place the baking sheet in the preheated oven and bake for about 25 minutes or until the rolls are golden brown and cooked through.
  • Remove the rolls from the oven and let them cool slightly. Serve warm or at room temperature.

Notes

These rolls can be made ahead of time and frozen after baking. To reheat, just pop them in the oven at 350°F (175°C) for 10 minutes.
Feel free to add herbs, seasoning, or cheese into the dough before the first rising for an extra flavor boost.
