  • 4.5 cups Bread Flour for dough

  • 1 Egg beaten
  • 2 tablespoon Butter unsalted, melted
  • 1 cup Milk warm
  • 1 Damp cloth for covering dough

  • Mix starter: combine ⅓ cup warm milk, dry yeast, 2 tablespoon bread flour, and sugar. Let sit 10 minutes until bubbly.
  • In a bowl, combine starter with 1 cup warm milk and mix.
  • Add 4.5 cups bread flour and salt. Stir until shaggy dough forms.
  • Add beaten egg and melted butter. Knead for 10 minutes until smooth and elastic.
  • Place in oiled bowl, cover with damp cloth, and let rise in warm place for 60 minutes.
  • Punch down dough. Divide into 8-16 rolls. Shape and place on lined baking sheet.
  • Cover rolls, let rise again for 30 minutes until puffy.
  • Bake at 375°F for 20-25 minutes until golden brown.
  • Let cool slightly before serving.
  • Enjoy with butter or your favorite spread.
