Equipment

  • 1 Large skillet
  • 1 Small saucepan
  • 1 Meat thermometer
  • 1 Tongs
  • 1 Cutting board
  • 1 Knife
  • 1 Whisk

Ingredients

  • 4 6 oz filet mignon steaks
  • to taste salt
  • to taste pepper
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil
  • 1 cup peeled and deveined shrimp
  • 1 cup lobster meat, diced (fresh or thawed from frozen)
  • 1 cup heavy cream
  • ½ cup chicken broth
  • 2 tablespoons butter
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • ½ cup shallots, finely chopped
  • 1 tablespoon fresh parsley, chopped (for garnish)
  • as needed lemon wedges (optional, for serving)

Instructions

  • Season the filet mignon steaks with salt and pepper on both sides and let them sit at room temperature for about 10 minutes.
  • Heat olive oil in a large skillet over medium-high heat. Add the filet mignon steaks and sear for about 4-5 minutes on each side for medium-rare, or until a meat thermometer registers 130°F (54°C). Remove the steaks from the skillet and let them rest.
  • In the same skillet, add the butter, reducing the heat to medium. Sauté the shallots and garlic until translucent, about 2-3 minutes.
  • Add the shrimp to the skillet and cook for 2-3 minutes until they turn pink. Then, carefully add the lobster meat and cook for an additional minute.
  • Pour in the chicken broth and scrape the bottom of the pan to deglaze it. Let it simmer for about 2 minutes.
  • Stir in the heavy cream and let it simmer on low heat for 5-7 minutes until the sauce thickens. Season with salt and pepper to taste.
  • To serve, place a filet mignon on each plate and top with the shrimp and lobster cream sauce. Garnish with fresh parsley and add lemon wedges on the side if desired.

Notes

For a side dish, consider serving this elegant meal with asparagus or garlic mashed potatoes for a complete dining experience.
Be careful not to overcook the shrimp to maintain their tenderness.
For added flavor, you can incorporate a splash of white wine into the sauce while cooking.
