Rub the flank steak with olive oil on both sides and season generously with salt and black pepper.
Once the grill or skillet is hot, place the steak on it. Cook for about 4-6 minutes on each side, or until the internal temperature reaches your preferred doneness (130°F for medium-rare, 140°F for medium).
Once cooked, remove the steak from the heat and let it rest for 5 minutes.
After resting, slice the steak against the grain into thin pieces.
Drizzle the garlic herb butter over the sliced steak and serve with lime wedges on the side.
