Equipment

  • 1 skillet
  • 1 spatula
  • 1 set measuring cups
  • 1 set measuring spoons
  • 1 serving platter
  • 1 tongs

Ingredients

  • 1 lb ground beef
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil
  • 1 small onion, finely chopped
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 teaspoon ground cumin
  • 1 teaspoon chili powder
  • ½ teaspoon paprika
  • ½ teaspoon salt
  • ¼ teaspoon black pepper
  • 1 cup beef broth
  • 8 small corn or flour tortillas
  • 1 cup shredded lettuce
  • 1 cup diced tomatoes
  • 1 cup grated cheese (cheddar or Mexican blend)
  • ½ cup salsa
  • ½ cup sour cream
  • for garnish fresh cilantro leaves optional

Instructions

  • Heat olive oil in a skillet over medium heat. Add the chopped onion and minced garlic, and sauté for about 2-3 minutes until the onion becomes translucent.
  • Add the ground beef to the skillet. Cook until the beef is browned, breaking it apart with a spatula, about 5-7 minutes.
  • Stir in the ground cumin, chili powder, paprika, salt, and black pepper. Mix well to coat the beef with the spices.
  • Pour in the beef broth and bring the mixture to a simmer. Reduce the heat and let it cook for another 5 minutes until the sauce thickens slightly.
  • While the beef mixture is cooking, warm the tortillas in another skillet or microwave to make them pliable.
  • To assemble the tacos, place a generous spoonful of the beef mixture in the center of each tortilla. Top with shredded lettuce, diced tomatoes, grated cheese, salsa, and a dollop of sour cream.
  • Garnish with fresh cilantro leaves if desired. Serve immediately.

Notes

You can customize the toppings according to your preferences, such as adding sliced jalapeños, avocado, or black beans.
Leftover beef mixture can be stored in the refrigerator for up to 3 days and used in other recipes or as a filling for burritos.
