Equipment

  • 1 small saucepan
  • 1 whisk
  • 1 measuring spoons
  • 1 measuring cup
  • 1 baking dish or suitable skillet
  • 1 brush for glazing

Ingredients

  • ½ cup honey
  • ¼ cup soy sauce
  • 2 tablespoons Dijon mustard
  • 1 tablespoon rice vinegar
  • 1 tablespoon minced garlic
  • 1 teaspoon grated fresh ginger
  • 4 6-ounce salmon fillets
  • Salt and pepper To taste
  • Chopped green onions For garnish (optional)

Instructions

  • Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C) or prepare a grill.
  • In a small saucepan over medium heat, combine the honey, soy sauce, Dijon mustard, rice vinegar, minced garlic, and grated ginger. Whisk the mixture until it's well blended and bring it to a simmer.
  • Allow the glaze to simmer for about 5 minutes, stirring frequently, until it thickens slightly. Remove it from the heat.
  • Season the salmon fillets with salt and pepper on both sides.
  • Place the salmon fillets in a baking dish or on a grill. Brush a generous amount of the glaze over each fillet.
  • For baking: Place the dish in the preheated oven and bake for 12-15 minutes, or until the salmon is cooked through and flakes easily with a fork. For grilling: Cook for about 5-6 minutes on each side, brushing with the glaze during the last few minutes of cooking.
  • Once cooked, remove the salmon from the oven or grill. Brush with any remaining glaze and let it rest for a minute.
  • Serve garnished with chopped green onions if desired.

Notes

Adjust the sweetness of the glaze by adding more or less honey according to your taste.
If you prefer a spicier glaze, you can add a pinch of red pepper flakes or a splash of hot sauce.
This glaze also works well with other types of fish or chicken.
