Instructions

  • Using a stand or hand mixer on medium speed, beat your cream cheese, sour cream, garlic powder, onion powder, and black pepper until smooth and creamy.
  • Turn to low and mix in 1 ½ cups of shredded cheddar cheese, half of the chopped bacon, half of the minced jalapeno, and half of the chopped green onions.
  • Spoon the cheese mixture into a ball shape on your serving plate and wrap it tightly with plastic wrap to shape.
  • Refrigerate the cheese ball overnight or for up to six days to allow it to firm up.
  • Remove the cheese ball about 20 minutes before serving and roll it in the reserved cheddar, bacon, jalapenos, and green onions topping.

Notes

Plan ahead and slightly soften your cream cheese for easier blending. Use good quality cheddar cheese and grate it yourself for best flavor. Remove stems, seeds, and veins from jalapenos using gloves. Make the cheese ball at least one day in advance to firm it up. Remove from fridge 20 minutes before serving and roll in reserved toppings for best results.
