  • 1 pound lean ground beef 90% lean
  • 3 cloves garlic minced
  • ¼ cup brown sugar packed
  • ¼ cup reduced-sodium soy sauce
  • 2 teaspoons sesame oil
  • ¼ teaspoon ground ginger
  • ¼ teaspoon crushed red pepper flakes
  • ¼ teaspoon pepper
  • 2 cups hot cooked white or brown rice
  • sliced green onions and sesame seeds for garnish

  • In a large skillet, cook the ground beef over medium heat, breaking it apart until browned, about 5 to 7 minutes.
  • Drain excess grease from the skillet.
  • Add minced garlic and cook for 1 to 2 minutes until fragrant.
  • Stir in brown sugar, soy sauce, sesame oil, ground ginger, red pepper flakes, and pepper. Let simmer for 2 to 3 minutes.
  • Serve over hot cooked rice and garnish with sliced green onions and sesame seeds.

Notes

Store leftovers in an airtight container in the fridge for up to 4 days, or freeze for longer storage. Reheat with a splash of water to keep the beef moist.
