Heat olive oil in a large skillet over medium heat.
Add diced onion and sauté until softened, about 3–4 minutes.
Add sliced smoked sausage and cook until browned, about 5 minutes.
Stir in minced garlic and cook for 1 minute.
Pour in chicken broth, heavy cream, ranch seasoning, and dry pasta.
Stir everything together, bring to a boil, then reduce heat to low, cover, and simmer for about 10–12 minutes until pasta is cooked through.
Stir in white cheddar cheese until creamy and melted. Serve hot!
