Ingredients
  

  • 8 ounces pasta (e.g., penne or spaghetti)
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil
  • 1 pound ground beef
  • 1 small onion, diced
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 can (14.5 ounces) diced tomatoes
  • 1 teaspoon dried basil
  • 1 teaspoon dried oregano

  • ½ cup grated Parmesan cheese for serving
  • fresh parsley optional, for garnish

Instructions
 

  • In a large pot of boiling salted water, cook the pasta according to package instructions until al dente. Drain and set aside.
  • In a skillet over medium heat, heat the olive oil. Add the diced onion and minced garlic, sauté until the onion is translucent (about 2-3 minutes).
  • Add the ground beef to the skillet, breaking it apart with a wooden spoon. Cook until browned and cooked through (about 5-7 minutes).
  • Stir in the diced tomatoes, dried basil, and oregano. Season with salt and pepper to taste. Simmer for 5-7 minutes, allowing the flavors to meld.
  • Toss the cooked pasta with the beef mixture in the skillet until evenly coated. Cook for another 2-3 minutes to heat through.
  • Divide the beefy pasta among plates and top with grated Parmesan cheese. Garnish with fresh parsley if desired.

Notes

Feel free to add vegetables like bell peppers or zucchini for extra nutrition.
You can use other types of ground meat, such as turkey or chicken, for a lighter version.
