Equipment

  • 2 9-inch round cake pans
  • 1 mixing bowls
  • 1 mixer (hand or stand)
  • 1 rubber spatula
  • 1 cake stand or serving platter
  • 1 piping bags (optional)
  • 1 cooling rack

Ingredients

  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1.5 cups granulated sugar
  • 0.5 cups unsalted butter, softened
  • 1 cup milk
  • 3 large eggs
  • 2.5 teaspoons baking powder
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 0.5 teaspoon salt
  • 2 cups frosting store-bought or homemade
  • 12 pieces assorted Peeps candies
  • 1 cup assorted candy decorations such as gummy worms, chocolate eggs, and sprinkles
  • to taste fresh mint leaves for garnish optional

Instructions

  • Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease and flour the two 9-inch round cake pans.
  • In a large mixing bowl, cream butter and sugar together until light and fluffy using a mixer.
  • Add eggs one at a time to the mixture, mixing well after each addition. Then, mix in the vanilla extract.
  • In another bowl, combine the flour, baking powder, and salt. Gradually add this dry mixture to the wet ingredients, alternating with milk, starting and ending with flour. Mix until just combined.
  • Divide the batter evenly between the two prepared cake pans. Smooth the tops with a spatula.
  • Bake in the preheated oven for 25 minutes or until a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean. Let the cakes cool in the pans for 10 minutes before transferring to a cooling rack to cool completely.
  • Once the cakes are completely cool, place one layer on your cake stand or serving platter. Spread a layer of frosting on top.
  • Place the second layer on top and frost the top and sides of the entire cake.
  • Decorate the top of the cake with assorted candies, creating a garden theme, and place the Peeps around the edges.
  • Optionally, add fresh mint leaves for a touch of greenery. Slice, serve, and enjoy!

Notes

For a more vibrant cake, consider adding food coloring to the frosting.
You can customize the decoration according to your preferences or seasonal candies available.
Make sure the cake is fully cooled before frosting to prevent the frosting from melting.
