- 8 oz. pasta (penne or fettuccine)
- 1 lb. flank steak, thinly sliced
- 1 tablespoon olive oil
- 1 medium onion, thinly sliced
- 1 green bell pepper, thinly sliced
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 cup beef broth
- 1 cup heavy cream
- 1 cup provolone cheese, shredded Other cheese types like cheddar or mozzarella can be used.
- 1 teaspoon Worcestershire sauce
- to taste salt
- to taste pepper
- optional chopped parsley for garnish
Cook the pasta according to package instructions in a large pot of salted boiling water. Drain and set aside.
In a large skillet, heat the olive oil over medium-high heat. Add the thinly sliced flank steak, seasoning with salt and pepper, and cook for about 3-4 minutes until browned. Remove from the skillet and set aside.
In the same skillet, add the sliced onion and green bell pepper. Sauté for about 5-7 minutes, or until they are softened. Add the minced garlic and cook for an additional minute.
Return the cooked steak to the skillet. Pour in the beef broth and Worcestershire sauce, stirring to combine. Allow it to simmer for 2-3 minutes.
Reduce heat to medium-low. Stir in the heavy cream and let it heat for a minute before adding the provolone cheese gradually while stirring continuously until the cheese is melted and the sauce is smooth.
Add the cooked pasta to the skillet, tossing to fully coat the pasta with the cheese sauce. Adjust seasoning with salt and pepper as needed.
Serve hot, garnished with optional chopped parsley if desired.
You can use other cheese types like cheddar or mozzarella if preferred.
For extra flavor, add some red pepper flakes for a little heat.
Leftovers can be stored in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 3 days. Reheat before serving.
