Equipment

  • 1 mixing bowl
  • 1 wooden spoon or spatula
  • 1 measuring cups and spoons
  • 1 rolling pin
  • 1 baking sheet or pizza stone
  • 1 oven

Ingredients

  • 4 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 tablespoon sugar
  • 2 teaspoons salt
  • 2 teaspoons active dry yeast
  • 1 ½ cups warm water
  • 3 tablespoons olive oil
  • as needed spray or flour cooking spray or extra flour for dusting

Instructions

  • In a small bowl, combine the warm water and active dry yeast. Allow it to sit for about 5 minutes until it becomes foamy.
  • In a large mixing bowl, whisk together the flour, sugar, and salt. Make a well in the center and add the yeast mixture and olive oil.
  • Mix the ingredients with a wooden spoon or spatula until a dough begins to form.
  • Transfer the dough to a floured surface and knead for about 5-7 minutes, until it becomes smooth and elastic.
  • Place the kneaded dough in a lightly oiled bowl, cover it with a clean kitchen towel, and let it rise in a warm place for about 1 hour, or until it has doubled in size.
  • Preheat your oven to 475°F (245°C).
  • Once the dough has risen, punch it down and transfer it to a lightly floured surface. Divide the dough into two equal portions if making two pizzas.
  • Roll out each portion of dough to your desired thickness and shape. Transfer the rolled-out dough onto a baking sheet or pizza stone.
  • Add your favorite sauce, cheese, and toppings.
  • Bake in the preheated oven for 12-15 minutes or until the crust is golden brown.

Notes

For best results, allow the dough to rest for 5-10 minutes before rolling it out to make it easier to work with.
Experiment with different toppings and sauces to create your perfect pizza.
If you like a thicker crust, do not roll the dough too thin.
Store any leftover dough wrapped in plastic wrap in the refrigerator for up to 3 days, or freeze it for longer storage.
