Equipment

  • 1 Instant Pot
  • 1 Measuring cups
  • 1 Measuring spoons
  • 1 Fork for fluffing rice

Ingredients

  • 1 cup white rice long grain or jasmine
  • 1 cup water
  • 1 teaspoon salt optional
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil or butter optional

Instructions

  • Rinse the rice thoroughly under cold water until the water runs clear to remove excess starch and help prevent stickiness.
  • In the Instant Pot, combine the rinsed rice, water, salt (if using), and olive oil or butter (if using).
  • Close the lid of the Instant Pot, ensuring that the steam release handle is set to the 'Sealing' position.
  • Select the ‘Rice’ function on the Instant Pot or set it to manual mode for 4 minutes on high pressure.
  • Once the cooking time is complete, allow the pressure to release naturally for 10 minutes, then carefully release any remaining pressure by turning the steam release handle to 'Venting.'
  • Open the lid, and fluff the rice gently with a fork.
  • Serve immediately or keep warm until ready to serve.

Notes

For brown rice, use a 1:1.25 ratio of rice to water and cook for 22-25 minutes on high pressure with a natural release.
You can add spices or herbs to the water for additional flavor, such as cumin, garlic powder, or bay leaves.
This basic recipe can be doubled or halved easily depending on your needs. Adjust water accordingly while maintaining the same rice-to-water ratio.
