Equipment

  • 1 9x13 inch baking dish
  • multiple mixing bowls
  • 1 electric mixer (optional)
  • 1 whisk
  • 1 baking spatula
  • 1 set measuring cups and spoons
  • 1 toothpick or skewer

Ingredients

  • 1 box (15.25 oz) strawberry cake mix
  • 3 large eggs
  • ½ cup vegetable oil
  • 1 cup water
  • 1 box (3 oz) strawberry jello
  • 1 cup boiling water
  • 1 cup cold water
  • 1 cup strawberry-flavored crushed cereal (like Fruity Pebbles or similar)
  • 1 cup whipped topping (like Cool Whip)
  • as needed optional fresh strawberries for garnish for garnish and added flavor

Instructions

  • Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease the 9x13 inch baking dish.
  • In a mixing bowl, combine the strawberry cake mix, eggs, vegetable oil, and water. Beat on medium speed for 2 minutes until well blended.
  • Pour the batter into the prepared baking dish and bake for 30 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean.
  • While the cake is baking, prepare the jello. In a separate bowl, dissolve the strawberry jello in 1 cup of boiling water, stirring until fully dissolved. Add 1 cup of cold water and mix well.
  • Once the cake is done, remove it from the oven and let it cool for about 10 minutes. Using a toothpick or skewer, poke holes all over the top of the cake.
  • Pour the cooled jello mixture evenly over the cake, ensuring it seeps into the holes. Allow the cake to cool completely in the pan.
  • In a separate bowl, mix the crushed cereal with whipped topping until well combined. Spread this mixture evenly over the cooled cake.
  • Garnish with fresh strawberries if desired. Slice and serve chilled.
