The Ultimate Southern Green Bean Casserole – Easy Recipe
A comfort-filled Southern Green Bean Casserole made with creamy mushroom sauce, tender green beans, and a crunchy stuffing and onion topping – perfect for weeknights or holiday tables.
In a large mixing bowl, add cream of mushroom soup, milk, Worcestershire sauce, garlic powder, and black pepper. Stir well to combine.
Stir in the green beans.
Add half of the fried onions to the mixture and stir.
Grease a 9×13" baking dish and pour green bean mixture into the dish.
Microwave butter in a medium bowl for 30-60 seconds until melted.
Add chicken broth and stuffing mix to the melted butter and stir until moistened.
Spread the stuffing mixture over the green bean mixture, gently pressing down and smoothing with a spatula.
Top with the remaining fried onions.
Bake uncovered for 40 minutes or until hot and bubbly. Cover with foil if the top browns too quickly.
Remove from oven and let cool for 5 minutes before serving.
Notes
Let the casserole cool to room temperature before storing. For best results, freeze before baking and bake after thawing. Reheat slowly to maintain creamy texture.
