Equipment

  • 1 grill pan or skillet
  • 1 cutting board
  • 1 spatula
  • 1 mixing bowl
  • 1 cheese grater
  • 1 measuring cups and spoons

Ingredients

  • 1 lb ground beef (80/20 blend)
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1 teaspoon onion powder
  • to taste salt
  • to taste black pepper
  • 4 large flour tortillas
  • 1 cup shredded cheddar cheese about 100g
  • 1 cup lettuce, shredded
  • 1 medium tomato, diced
  • 1 small red onion, thinly sliced
  • 1 avocado, sliced
  • ¼ cup mayonnaise
  • 2 tablespoon taco sauce optional

Instructions

  • In a mixing bowl, combine the ground beef with garlic powder, onion powder, salt, and black pepper. Mix until well blended, but do not overwork the meat.
  • Shape the meat into 4 equal-sized burger patties.
  • Heat a grill pan or skillet over medium-high heat. Cook the patties for about 3-4 minutes on each side or until cooked through to your desired doneness.
  • In the last minute of cooking, place the shredded cheddar cheese on top of each patty. Cover the pan with a lid to help the cheese melt.
  • While the burgers are cooking, warm the tortillas in a separate skillet over low heat for about 30 seconds on each side.
  • When the patties are cooked, remove them from the heat and start assembling your tortilla burgers. Spread mayonnaise on each tortilla.
  • Place a cheesy burger patty in the center of each tortilla, then top with shredded lettuce, diced tomato, sliced onion, and avocado. Optionally drizzle with taco sauce.
  • Fold the sides of the tortilla over the filling and then roll it up tightly from the bottom to enclose the burger and toppings.
  • Serve immediately, and enjoy your delicious tortilla burgers!

Notes

You can customize the toppings based on your preference; feel free to add jalapeños, corn, or black beans.
For a lighter version, substitute ground turkey or chicken for the beef.
If you want a crispy tortilla, you can grill the assembled tortilla burger on the skillet for an additional 1-2 minutes on each side.
