Ingredients
  

  • 2 cups canned tuna, drained About 3 cans, 5 oz each.
  • ¼ cup mayonnaise
  • 1 tablespoon Dijon mustard
  • ¼ cup celery, finely chopped
  • ¼ cup red onion, finely chopped
  • 1 tablespoon lemon juice
  • salt and pepper To taste.
  • 8 slices bread Whole wheat or white, as preferred.
  • lettuce leaves Optional.
  • tomato slices Optional.

Instructions
 

  • In a mixing bowl, combine the drained tuna, mayonnaise, and Dijon mustard. Use a fork to break up the tuna and mix well.
  • Add the finely chopped celery, red onion, and lemon juice to the bowl. Stir until all ingredients are combined.
  • Season the tuna mixture with salt and pepper to taste. Mix well.
  • Lay out 4 slices of bread on a cutting board. Spoon an equal amount of the tuna mixture onto each slice.
  • If desired, layer on lettuce leaves and tomato slices on top of the tuna mixture.
  • Top each assembled sandwich with the remaining 4 slices of bread.
  • Optional: Toast the sandwiches in a sandwich press or toaster for a warm, crispy texture.
  • Cut each sandwich in half and serve immediately.

Notes

You can customize the tuna salad by adding ingredients such as chopped pickles, herbs, or hard-boiled eggs.
This sandwich can be made in advance and stored in the refrigerator for up to 2 days, but the bread may become soggy.
Pair it with a side of chips or a salad for a complete meal.
